Foundation Accepted for 2007 Combined Federal Campaign
A letter from SSPF CEO, Ida Cahill

The Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation (SSPF) was accepted to become part of the Combined Federal Campaign for 2007 (CFC 1750). This campaign is endorsed by the Federal Government and encourages employees to donate part of their paycheck to organizations of their choosing from a pre-qualified list. One of our challenges is to reach out to Federal employees (post office workers, Treasury, etc.) and individuals in the Armed Forces asking them to consider selecting SSPF as part of their philanthropic plans.

Under our 2005 Quality of Life Grants, SSPF supported the work of Homes for Our Troops in Taunton, MA which assists disabled veterans in either building new homes or making their current homes accessible. The organization will be supporting their efforts once again this year.

SSPF also holds “Day at the Races” programs in cities across the country where Sam’s Indy Pro Series team races. We host approximately 70 people at each race, with activities including lunch in the Andretti Green Racing hospitality tent, tours of the garage and pit areas, opportunity to meet and speak with IndyCar drivers and team owners and most importantly, we provide resource materials and the chance to interact with other individuals having disabilities. We reach out to and invite soldiers in the local VA Hospitals and members of the Paralyzed Veterans Associations.

Anything that you can do to spread the word about our organization will be greatly appreciated. We will have ads appearing in many of the military newsletters/newspapers which the CFC is coordinating. Watch for further information to be posted on this webpage.
