ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL RACING TO RECOVERY GALA

On May 14, 2007, The Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation held its Eighth Annual Racing to Recovery Gala in Indianapolis.

Over 400 people joined in the evening’s festivities, bidding on live and silent auction packages that included extreme racing experiences, racing memorabilia, vacations, artwork, jewelry, and much, much more.

A beaming Sam Schmidt thanked the guests, “The continued growth of the Foundation is due to all of you who support our efforts. What started out as just a few friends helping has evolved into a major event. I am simply overwhelmed by your generosity.”

Sam and Ida Cahill, President of the Foundation, presented Al Speyer and Bridgestone Firestone with the first Partner for A Cure Award for their continued support. This year Al Unser, Sr., received the Legendary Driver Award, joining previous recipients Michael Andretti and Rick Mears.

“The money raised will help fund spinal cord injury research, quality of life grants benefiting people with disabilities, the Day at the Races program, scholarships, and our advocacy efforts.” stated Cahill. “It means a great deal to Sam and me to have people support our efforts so generously.”
